There was a 10 year old (no older than) girl with her Mum and Nan next to us.
Several very violent scenes more like a 15 or 18. Then other scenes typical Bond film. No wonder the world is so violent with children allowed to view things like that and what happened to her bedtime!

The same reason people take their newborn babies to R rated movies instead of getting a sitter. People are stupid, and nowadays alot of parents don't give a crap about their kids and what things influence them.

I have not seen Casino Royale yet but I can't imagine why any parent would think it or any other James Bond film would be child-appropriate. Even the old Sean Connery versions (when films were alot more censored and things left to the imagination) were definitely not for kids. When I saw Return of the King (obviously not a Bond film but has the same rating) in the theater during the late night showing, there was a 4 yr old girl sitting next to me who was screaming in my ear because she was traumatized by it and her parents (and the theater staff) wouldn't do anything about it.

I have to say that I was surprised it was only a 12 certificate. Once I'd seen it I felt that it should really have been a 15.

Then again, they wouldn't have made so much money had it been a 15. "The Living Daylights" was a 15 and that, as much as anything else, contributed to Timothy Dalton's demise as Bond - they didn't make enough money out of the film, but didn't make the connection to the certifiate ...

While I don't like to blame violence in children entirely on movies, I do tend to agree with you that this particular Bond flick wasn't suitable for kids. Just about all of them are OK for kids to watch, but the scene with the chair with its seat cut out was a bit much. I would take my kid to see it based on the other Bond films, but wouldn't recommend parents bring their little ones to Casino Royale.

relatively, it replaced into between the main powerful Bond videos ever made. I enjoyed that it replaced into expositional for the the remainder of the series and gave a number of the "whys" for the character. on line casino Royale is between the earliest books of the series Ian Flemming penned. So, tale-sensible, yeah, it wasn't as tight as a number of the others. And, individually, i presumed Daniel Craig looked dazzling popping out of the sea. sturdy Lord, what a physique!

Similar to most films these days - my kids all loved it - two have seen it twice so far. Use your own judgment.

ps read the book - its too old-fashioned for kids but a great ending to set the scene for his future

Its a 12A, make of that want you want. Don't send your kids to a 12A in the future until you have seen it and decided for them but don't be so quick to judge other parents. If the kid was in the cinema she should have been 12. Sit back and enjoy the flick. When you leave go smash someones knackers in with a snooker ball in a sock.

Its all good.

No way, they got the rating all wrong. What kind of Nan takes a ten year old kid at that time anyway.

having seen casino royale i wouldnt have thought it appropriate for children to go as it was a 15 film, but saying that its up to the parents and nowadays children are older in manner and their upbringing isnt as sheltered as say mine was.
