Practice and in time, you'll get better. I only type about 55 wmp but I used to be terrible, I think I was only like in the 20's or not even.

You need a typing tutor program. "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" is around $9 at most office stores, and is great fun. Spend 20 minutes a day at it, and you will soon be typing at 70 wpm. I used it for less than 2 weeks, and my typing went from 19 wpm to 74. I no longer even have to look at the keys as I type, and I can type as I'm talking or watching TV. The Mavis Beacon program is almost like playing a video game - painless, silly, and fun.
If you don't practice, daily, you will never improve. Typing is a skill that you will use for the rest of your life.

Practice is really the best way, but I got good by using Yahoo messanger and online gaming. this is no joke and I am being hold hearted when I say this. I could barely type when I got out of High School, just knew barely enough to land me a job at a medical center. Once I started chatting online and playing online games like Everquest, I really bumped up my typing skills to where I can type 70wpm. This was just me, but it was practice also. SO, basically, practice is the key my friend. =)

Practice every day typing editorials...not fast just correctly. Do it three times as correctly as possible. Don't go for speed. In less than 3 months you will increase a 40 WPM to 77 WPM. It's just a discipline and the editorials are interesting and you will learn something besides improving your typing. That's how it is done girl. Good luck.

I learned how to type fat by my mom coloring the keys on the keyboard certain colors. This finger touches this color and so on. See the links below. It takes a while. But now I am at the age of 14 and typing without looking at the keyboard at all. I am so framiliar with where all the keys are. But it helps to have colors assigned to certain fingers.

Practice, practice, practice. I type at work all the time. I used to type 36 words per minute with 90% accuracy, now I type 96 words per minute with 99% accuracy. Try Mavis Beacon software.
