It is VERY close to the Sun and sets only a few minutes after the Sun, well before the end of twilight. That makes it very hard to spot, even though it is pretty bright.

Since Trinidad and Tobago are in the carribean, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you could see it at the same time the northeast can. That would be at sunset or sunrise. At sunset, check to the bottom right of Venus and your supposed to be able to see it. Although I can't seem to find it...
