First of all those machines in the pharmacies are "generic" and are not callibrated on a regular basis. If you have a larger arm, your pressure will register especially high. Systolic pressure average should be 120 or less. Diastolic (bottom number) should be 80 or less ideally. All would depend on your age, your health and if you just walked up to the machine and still had alot of blood pumping. Your pressure is measured by the amount of force there is on your blood vessels with the heart pumping blood (top number) and when it rests between beats (bottom number). My advice to you is to see your doctor and tell him. Let the nurse take your pressure after you've been sitting a little while. You can reduce the amount of salt in your diet and up your water intake which will reduce the pressure in your blood volume. Also, you can take an aspirin every day to thin your blood. If you are overweight, weight loss can really make a difference as does moderate exercise (like 30 min. of walking every 3 days). Omega-3 supplements can reduce your pressure. Best bet is to see your doc relieve your mind. Godloveya.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

88 diastolic, is not that high. Normal rate is usually 80 or lower. I wouldn't worry about it. If it starts reaching 90, you should see a doctor. In the mean time, watch your salt intake, as that can cause blood pressure to rise. Caffeine, and certain allergy meds can as well. Keep a watch on it. Check it once a week to and keep record.

Keep a close check on your blood pressure. The bottom number may have been a little high because you had been running around without stopping the next time rest a little while and then check your blood pressure. You can always get your doctor to check it out for you.

if the cuff hurt you just a little, this could make your blood pressure go up. maybe just from walking and shopping it had it up. if it continues, see your doctor.
