the shoes are leather on the outside, but mesh on the tongue. when I clean the tongue with a toothbrush like the rest of the shoe the dirt smears, but if I put it in the washer it ruins the leather.

you have to flip the shoe upside down hold it by the sole pull the tounge out as far as possible......them submerge the tougn in water then cover in soap and squish and rinse and do it again till its clean ....try that mmmk?

If you put your shoes in a pillow case after you wash them with the toothbrush, it will come clean.

Put a little peanut butter on them and have the dog lick it until it is clean.It really works great!
