make sure my name was not on anything he had run up.. i.e credit cards etc... then id cut them up and refere him to a councillor for compulsive spending dissorder (if the love was still there that is)... otherwise if it were my money too id ditch him

I would make him return whatever it is he wasted his money on, or come up with the money spent!!! Oh, there would be a bit of a fight too!

Close my joint account and have only my name on it. Or require two signatures to make a withdrawal. Call the credit company to make sure he can't use your credit card anymore, so he can't ruin your credit.
