what do you think of ubuntu system?good to try?

Yes, sure, I use Ubuntu along with Mandriva; although for a live cd try Knoppix and MandrivaOne 2007 are better and for an installation on hard disk Mandriva is better.

I've tried it on pcs and Macs. Installs fairly easy and works pretty good. Doesn't come with a lot of extras that a more expensive distribution like SuSe has. Try the LIVE cd first and take it a test drive.
