The cheapest way to make a car faster is by removing weight. A 93 ford explorer sport isn't exactly.....a sports car......
If you're all about the thrill of acceleration, take out whatever you don't need in the car to reduce weight: spare tire....extra seats. You could also get some ligher rims to cut weight as well.
After that other inexpensive ways to increase horsepower are to maximize airflow to your engine and free up the exhaust to flow as freely as possible.
However, if you are more into the "driving experience" as opposed to gas peddle mashing, get some performance tires and that will be an affordable but noticable handling improvement.
Can't say I know too many people fixing up their explorers, so if you're serious about speed you might honestly want to consider selling the explorer for another more appropriate vehicle, anything lighter and lower to the ground.

don't make a ford explorer faster. those things handle and brake like absolute garbage. if you make it faster it's going to be even worse to control and you'll end up flipping it or smashing into someone. buy a sports car if you want to drive fast. sorry man, that's just the truth of it.

I agree with green monsters, your most likely have a 4.0 V-6 or small V-8. not goin to be able to do much without it costing ya. You must understand that you drive a truck and it is geared to pull not go fast. There are many ways to get some speed. Air intake system with an exhuast system. it all depends on your budget.

weight removal is the best answer as it is FREE and will add to the handling and braking also -but these are not hot rods so why bother ,sell or trade and get a small coupe or other platform to start with
