I heard that eventhough they try to stop you, you are still allowed to bring it in. (WITHOUT TRYING TO HIDE IT)

No, you have to sneak it in. Thats why prices are so high because if you want food or drink in the movies then you have to pay their prices!

I have walked into theaters with my own food and drink, and for the show that I generally attend, I do not think you would be stopped. Provided I am part of a shadow cast that performs the Rocky Horror Picture Show and many of us are rolling in with Dinner in hand and we have never been stopped. As for a regular movie, I have walked in with a bottle of water or a juice once or twice and not been stopped. As for the legality of it... I do not know. I would think that since a theater is probably considered private property that they could prohibit you from bringing in something, but I am not sure. I know when we used to go to the drive in you could bring your own stuff, minus booze, but they always checked cars for extra people, not food.

The revenue from tickets sales (the box office) goes to the movie company. The revenue from the candy counter (refreshments) pays the wages of the workers. That is why you aren't allowed to bring in outside food and beverages and can be removed if you should do so.

Edit: They can search you if they have probable cause to believe you have something on you, like they've seen the item sticking out. If you refuse the search, then they can kick you out, even ban you from future entry.

Oh, confident. ignore those ridiculously over-packaged bins of candy that purely have a million oz..in them. you be responsive to, the field is extensive, however the contents are particularly dinky? I merely get despite i'm interior the temper for on the food market, circulate it right into a miles less noisy plastic bag, and not in any respect get caught. And in case you purchase some comfortable drink that doesn't have carbonation, like fruit punch, orange drink, iced tea, etc, there is no phfffffft noise once you open it. helps to have a handbag, BTW. Or, huge wallet.

i suppose if they wanted to stop you they could since most theaters have it posted, "no food or drinks allowed". I find if the theater is say in a shopping center and you want to walk in with starbucks coffe or a burger from carls jr they cant make you throw it away so you walk in with it. They cant make you pay for a movie and get strict on what you eat.

No. Why would a theater have in their rulebook that outside food and drink is a allowed and then turn around and post just the opposite and send ushers around to confiscate the loot?

it depends. i live in a small town, where most kids don't have to scrape around for the fee.(its $2.00 for kids 12 and under, $3.00 for people 13 and up.) its the same movie for fridays, saturdays and sundays, different every week. there's something else: no cup-holders, no hired help:volunteers, no tickets. and since there's no hired help, on holidays like new years, x-mas, easter and thanksgiving, the theatre's CLOSED. what im saying is: if the fee and the consession is cheap: it really wouldn't matter(50 cents fro popcorn, candy and pop.) i hoped i helped.

How can they make business if everyone was bringing there own food. I do, but it doesn't mean I'm allowed. As soon as the lights dim, however, I fish it out from under my coat and enjoy. Watch it though, you gotta be sneaky!

Which movie theater is that? Most theaters don't allow that. It is ok if they don't know about it...maybe this person has a movie theater in his/her own home.

We always take our own snacks right out in the open. I've gone to the manager before hand and let him know my son has deadly food allergies. Can he be 100% sure their snacks are safe?
