Hey guys I just started to experience some weird black stuff coming on my wall...but I am not sure what is the reason. I live in a apartment and its my own heating that I pay for. So i turn it on in a moderate way like only when I'm home and only the rooms that I need. So I have a little doubt that it is heating problem but I am not sure. Please help me to find out what is the cause, if its heating I will keep it on every time in the apartment.

If you have high humidity in the room you could be getting black mold. This stuff can be DEADLY. You need to have someone check this out. It could be old paint "bleeding" through the paint or wallpaper, but I'd sure have someone check it out.

First where is the black stuff... is in the bathroom or is your apartment a basement apartment or laundry room??? Is there a lot of moisture. Because it sounds like you have mold. Which can be deathly ...at most at least it can cause allergic reactions.. So are you having headaches and or sinus issues. Have you talked to other tenants in the building or your landlord... I mean you do pay rent not a mortgage.

Sounds like it could be mold/mildew. One way to be certain is to take a Qtip dipped in bleach, then touch a black spot. If it immediately changes color it is mold/mildew. Mold grows from moisture, maybe the roof is leaking into the wall or else when you shower the vent isn't ran allowing steam to build up. There are many reasons, but you need to be certain first.

Is there a chance that it's mold? That can look like 'wierd black stuff'. Or else, you might need your heating ducts and filters cleaned.

Good luck!

It's either mold, mildew, or residue from candles. Even the smokeless candles.
