Yes it is safe and it can induce labor. I had a "vigorous" exam by my doctor 2 days before my due date. Later that night, I had sex with my husband. By 6:00PM the next night, I held my baby girl in my arms! :) Good luck!

I don't know what kind of hormones are in activity when a woman gets pregnant - but all I know is - sexual activity can be the best during this time! My husband and I enjoyed sex up until the actual 'day' my daughter was born. During the last trimester, it is always good to be careful, extra cautious and your husband be especially tender towards you, but unless you have had other complications (spotting, etc.) prior, then you should be able to enjoy your relationship with him. Some women don't feel feminine or beautiful and don't want anyone to touch them -but it can be a very special time between a husband and wife to enjoy each other at this time. I guarantee you this - he will love it that you are willing to be so close to him and still want to have relations with him. Women tend to leave men and their needs out just because they are pregnant- but baring any physically disabilities or hindrances, you should be able to do this. And yes, I have heard also that if you are 'due' and labor has not started - the 'shaking' of the uterus and vaginal can cause labor to commence. And that's a good thing! I wish you and your family the very best! Children are gifts from God.

It's a recommendation that doctors and professionals give to start labor, and so is walking. Sex is safe unless your bag of waters has broken.
Orgasms cause oxytocin to be released into your bloodstream. That's the hormone that the synthetic labor-inducing drug Pitocin simulates. Though you're now full term, neither of these will necessarily induce labor. Nipple stimulation has the same effect as sex, but it releases far smaller doses of Oxytocin.

Only if your body is prepared for birth already. I tried it with all 4 of my pregnancies and it never brought labor on. Even if it does , I wouldn't worry about it because the baby will be fine at 38 weeks anyway.

You are far enough along to go into labor so don't worry about that. As long as the doctor doesn't tell you no sex then you are fine.

yes it can induce labour. Sperm releases hormones once inside and this can bring on labour. You also release hormones whilst having sex which can have that affect, even massaging your nipples i'm told can help to induce it (i was told by midwives wheni was pregnant) You are nearly full term now but all i can say is that when i was having my first i was over my due date and had to be induced the following day. the midwife told me to have sex and sure enough i was in labour the next day.

At 38 weeks you are considered full term...so if you do it will be fine. Semen contains prostaglandins that can soften the cervix. As long as your Dr hasn't said no to sex...its fine.
