Today I went for an ultrasound because i've been having dark brown/red spotting for almost a week and the Dr. said that the "fetus" seemed to be only 4 weeks old. My last LMP was dec. 2nd so that would make me 6 week pregnant. That means two things, either I ovulated super late in my cycle (35 days cycle) or the "fetus" died at 4 weeks... Anyboby experienced something like this??? Is it possible that the fetus is only 4 weeks old?????

I still have pregnancy symptomes such as dizzyness, swollen breast, bloated stomach...

Thanks for your help.

I am technicly still pregnant.
When the dr. did the ultrasound we saw a bubble of liquid. Is that what it's supposed to look like at 4 weeks?

It's definitly possible the fetus is only four weeks old. They go by your last LMP but it is not unusual to get that result. I am 10 weeks but I was supposed to be 13 weeks. When they did an ultrasound is when they found out I was 10 weeks. I saw the heartbeat then so I knew everything was fine. Everything should be good. It's a little disconcerting to know your child is alot younger. Also, because your cycle was 30 days it is possible you ovulated late. Your baby is probably healthy but if you have any concerns do not be afraid to ask your doctor. It likely you can rule out miscarriage right at the moment though. Your child is 4 weeks gestation

2 weeks are added to you LMP to get the approximate age of the fetus. It is possible too that you ovulated later than usual or that the the fetus died and would have stopped growing at a certain week even before you started bleeding. Sometimes you can have a miscarriage and have no symptoms such as bleeding. You would still have pregnancy symptoms even if you have miscarried (I am not for sure if you did) because elevated HCG is what causes the symptoms and you would still have that in your blood for a while after you miscarry.

In a 6 week pregnancy, the fetus would only be 4 weeks since pregnancy is counted from first day of LMP, and conception usually occurs 2 weeks later.

I started spotting at 7 weeks and when I went in for an ultrasound the fetus measured 5 weeks. Then my bleeding increased and I miscarried. In some cases it takes a while before a miscarriage happens or you may need a D&C. I'm sure that your doctor will monitor your situation. Good luck, I hope that everything is OK.

You actually become pregnant someplace around day 10-14 of a cycle (depending upon your ovulation), so it is very possible that you are only 4 weeks pregnant.

I'm sorry you are going through this.

You start counting 2 weeks BEFORE your last period. On the first day of your last period, the ovary is 2 weeks old. Then is fertilized. So, it sounds like you conceived beginning of January which would mean the life of the egg started December 16 and was conceived December 30th which would make the baby 4 weeks 4 weeks tomorrow.

Confusing

you are 6 weeks lmp, 4 weeks gestation. most women would concieve approximately 2 weeks after the start of their period.
