Who has the worst end on the music piracy issue? The recording artist who doesn't get the $15-20 as a result of making a lousy record with only a handful of good songs, or the consumer who gets conned out of his $15-20 for a lousy record with only a handful of good songs?

The artist doesn't even get a dollar from each record sold. They get most of their money from concerts and merchandise sales. The money for albums goes to the
retailer
distributor
manufacturer
production company
record label
etcetera etcetera...

Besides, $15 to a recording artist means a lot less than $15 to me or you, so the answer would be the consumer.

The artist, because they don't get an accurate count of how many albums they sold, after all the work they put into it
