I have an aquaintence who is the wife of one of my husbands good friends... who I keep in contact with via email. I have a son who is 7 months older than hers. Everytime she emails me she mentions how lucky she is to have other friends with sons just a little older than hers. And how she has received a lot of hand-me-downs from them and hasn't had to buy much for her son. In her last email she said again "Love those hand-me-downs!!" And I get the point that she's probably hinting that she'd love hand-me-downs from my son. But my hubby and I are planning on saving our baby stuff in case we decide to have another. Should I just ignore her continual 'hints'? I am starting to wonder if she's only keeping in contact for the potential hand-me-downs. What do you think?

Tell her the next time she raves about hand be downs, "I know, hand-be-downs are great! It will be so nice when "your husband's name" and I have another baby, because we will have all this stuff I am saving for our next baby to use." That will be the end of her hints - I promise!:)

She may be really thankful for the savings she is getting by being given items free of charge. She also may be hinting to you, like you said. I would have to say something next time it is mentioned. Very politely just ask her if she has hopes of your son's hand me downs because if she does, you'd love to give her everything you have but planning another pregnancy leaves you thrifty minded and all your items are getting packed away for future use of your own. Just get it out there and see if you still hear from her. If not, good thing you kept the stuff and if you do, she's just sharing her excitement with you. At least you'll know!

Well for one all you have to do is tell her I wish I could give you all my kids clothes but we plan on having more kids soons and were are going to need these. SO I am very sorry but if I can we might be able to give some of his clothes, OK. Then if she says ok then give her aome not much to her that way you won't her feelings and keep her as a friend because later she or her husband might just return the favor. SO hey a couple of outfits won't be missed in the. future.

ok She's weird and wonderful, yet I actually have 2 little ones, surprisingly I knew i became going to have a boy and then a lady. My sister had a boy after I had mines. I supply my sister my hand-me-downs and that i keep the particular outfits that propose a lot to me. What i'm doing on the instantaneous, that you probable don't have the staying power for is i'm making a toddler blanket out of my baby's previous outfits, and that i supply the garments i do not choose or opt for to my friends that really choose them. i'm basically twenty and that i hand stitch the garments myself. the garments that your son makes use of with have some placed on and tear, i does not opt for my new toddler boy wearing older outfits which have milk stains on them. Fork over the crappy outfits.

"I'm with you! I loved hand me downs too! It really saved us money. I think that savings is what allowed us to buy some very special outfits for Jimmy that we're saving carefully for a possible sibling, so they're all packed up and we're hopeful they'll be used again by a little brother some day in the not too distant future."

Just say to her, " I would offer you my son's clothes but we're hanging onto them for our next baby." Done. If she asks how you know it'll be a boy ask her how she knows that it won't. A lot of people do this( keep clothes for next time) especially if you spent money on good stuff. I know I did it, almost 6 years later I'm still waiting lol. This woman is very tacky for dropping her heavy hints. Good luck!

Hand them on down. Seriously, I saved so many beautiful dresses from my oldest daughter to use for my youngest daughter. Almost all had dry-rot by the time I was ready to use them. I wish I had let someone else get the chance to appreciate them. Unless you have the money to professionally store everything, I suggest letting your friend use your hand-me-downs...and ask for hers if another little one comes along soon. Generosity is contagious.

could be that ur reading to much into it!! i have a friend that likes hand me downs to and i let her rummage through everything then i give the rest to the red cross...

why not just comment on it to her.. u can say wow ur really lucky then let her know that the only reason u don't toss nothing her baby's way is because ur thinking of having another baby...

that should stop some of her comments...

That sounds definitly like she is trying to get clothes out of you. Just say something like "oh that is very nice they do that for you, we plan on keeping our clothes for another baby", and keep saying phrases like that everytime she talks about those hand me downs. I think thats very greedy of her to keep hinting that when clearly she already gets enough hand me downs from other families.

Tell her you are planning a second child in the future, and you intend to keep every sock, shirt, pants, undies, pullover. sweater, shirt and t-shirt for you next kid. Now, if she still bugs you about it (People like her are classless enough to keep asking if you are pregnant yet), tell her then if she can't afford clothes there are plenty of thrift stores that sell used baby clothes like the chain "Once upon a child" or any wall-mart stores are very inexpensive.
