Is the Marshall MG100HDFX a decent amp? Is it a tube style? I'm in the market for a marshall setup and this would be my first stack style guitar speaker/head combo. A guy I know is selling one and I am really want a marshall tube style amp that is decent. I've previously used combo amps, which worked fine while i was learning. but now that i feel im established, i think its time i got an upgrade.

avoid anything with marshall mg written on it. "you get what you pay for" applies heavily here. look for a used marshall avt series, fairly cheap and 100 times better than a mg.

The MG series is cheap junk. The amp you are looking at is NOT a tube amp. If you want a tube amp, you should be looking at a JCM 2000 DSL or JCM 2000 TSL. They cost a lot more, but you pay real dollars for real equipment.
