If it's the TheftLockII that GM installs on their vehicles, there's a place to unplug the entire system, usually around the steering column. I installed a remote start on a 2004 cavalier, and I was able to unplug the theft system after the starter refused to keep the car running. It's been installed for 4 months and not one problem. Check in your steering column housing for a wire coupler, unplug it, attempt to start it, and plug it up again. If that doesn't work, you may have to take it to GM to have them unlock the theft system.

Sorry it's really hard to diagnose electrical problems sometimes unless you have the car right in front of you. I know when I worked at the GM dealership for years on all the new cars we had to install these theft deturrent devices but they took a small key card and we always installed them under the dash. You may want to double check to see if your Caddy has anything similar to that. If not then just tow it somewhere if you have to and check it for codes and go from there.

these things are real common for the wires breaking for the key chip contacts right at the ign lock cylinder. that is in the steering column, obviously. it will take a new ign cyl to fix the car. along with that, a new key with the correct chip in it will also have to be bought. all this from a cadillac dealer.this is not a fix for a novice auto tech. it takes good knowledge of the cadillac system for someone to repair this. i worked in a cadillac dealer from 83 till 04, so i am familiar with this. one thing you may try, is another key to the car. see if its a worn key contact. one in a million, it works.
