A private business has the right to employ and serve whomever they damn well please, take whatever payment they please, and that is their business. Some establishments in other countries take US dollars, some don't. Of course, if it was my restaurant, I would charge extra for people to pay in pesos because that would just be a pain in my d!ck to have them bastards converted to God's currency, the US dollar.

And don't forget...
every time you spend anything other than US currency, God kills a puppy. Do you like killing puppies?

If you had a business, it would be YOUR choice of how you received payment. If someones business chooses to accept WHATEVER payment, it is usually driven by economic fact. If i wanted to trade pizzas for Roubles it would be perfectly fine. As long as a business pays their taxes and obeys the laws, it is their CHOICE. Now if I set up a Pizza stand near the Mexican Border that patrons could pay for in pesos, THAT attracted customers to my store, because they could pay with their loose pesos which otherwise would go unspent, or in some way made it more convenient in view of the customers/circumstances, it would be perfectly proper. Often, the business choices increase revenues. Some may say that was using business acumen.

Sure the owners collect the pesos and trade them for dollars in a nearby mexican bank, in a way is good for them because they can charge as much as 8000 pesos for a slide of pizza.♦

It is an advertising ploy. The pizza place in question is headquartered here in San Antonio. Sure, they will accept pesos; they can be redeemed for dollars at any bank at the current exchange rate. But the real thing that they managed to pull off was a WHOLE lot of free advertising. They got their name in the national news, all for saying they would accept pesos for their product. It cost them nothing, but I would bet it will make them a lot of money.

In reality, they will probably see very few pesos.

It's a gimmick to attract more Hispanics patrons in the neighborhoods the restaurant are located in at a rate of 12 to 1 to cover the cost of the pizza. Who cares it's their business that it affects.

Wow..... good question.....

I was raised in a military family and traveled all over the world. I then went into the military myself and spent the past 20 years traveling the world even more.

Most places I have gone to, when you pay for your meal they accept several forms of currency and the waitresses have the conversion tables laminated on their ticket books.

Let's see... Pizza was brought to the US by Italian immigrants and now both Americans and Mexicans love it.
What is the problem???
If you don't like it, buy your pizza elsewhere.
Amazing what some crazy people make such an ordeal about.

It's their place of business and they will be the ones who must convert the currency, so why would it bother anyone else?
