i have been driving a tractor trailer for the past 10 years and a few years ago i went to my doctor due to some severe shoulder pain and he told me that i had tendonitis my question is... is that even possible? i do alot of shifting through out the day and getting in and out of the truck alot during the day. when this problem first started it was in my right shoulder and now it is in my left shoulder during the winter months is when it tends to flare up sometimes its in my right shoulder and other times its in my left........ of course this time round its bugging me in both shoulders making it hard for me to work and drive my truck for a living... so again i ask is this possible for me to have tendonitis?

yes this is very common in truck drivers, any repetitive motion(steering back and forth) will cause this, plus when you are in heavy traffic or stressful situations these muscles are tense and cause more irritation. go see an industrial medicine doctor and he will advise you on different ways to drive and exercises you can do

Is there a reason you don't believe the doctor? Yes it is possible and probable. You should go back to the doc and ask for cortisone injections to relieve the inflammation and pain. Any tendons, joints that we use in repetitive motions can result in tendinitis; for instance, tennis elbow. Same result if you do gardening for too long. You might consider proping your arm with a pillow at night and taking anti-inflammatories like aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce the swelling with food. If you're going to see medical advice, why not believe what the doctor told you? If not you're wasting your time, his time and good money. So, go take a good hot shower and some aspirin and sleep with your arm on a pillow; and go to an orthopedic doc who will give you injections for the pain/swelling of the tendons. Godloveya....

yes you can, the use of your hands, arms and legs is very very often doing the same thing's..I have problems with my pain due to work and let me tell you who can help you.. But check them out first to make sure you get a good one..I have started going to a Chiropractor and he has helped me a great deal. I am no longer in the severe pain that I was in..although I do still have some pain...but in time it will not hurt anymore..Where r u located?
