A responsible doctor wouldn't do it without a strong medical indication it was needed. There are potential risks to all interventions. Why accept those risks if you don't really need the intervention?

You are considered term at 37 weeks however a doctor will not do an elective induction until 39 weeks. So unless there is a reason to induce, you are going to have to sit it out for another 2 weeks. I just went through this last month- dialted to 4cm for 3 weeks I finally at 38 weeks scheduled my induction for the day I turned 39 weeks. Good luck to you and I recommend that you get as much rest as possible between now and delivery- once that newborn is here sleep is a thing of the past! So for now, even though you are uncomfortable and ready, just take heart in the fact that you can take a shower, sleep, eat and live on your own schedule now!

Most likely the answere your doc will give you is no, unless your having some type of problems thatput you or your baby at risk. Although, your doc may tell you that he will induce at 38 or 39 weeks if inducing labor is what you want to do.

I was so ready pop about the same time you are now! I couldn't wait to just feel normal again. I wanted to have my baby so bad! My dr at the week you are and me being 2 CM dialated and 90effaced said we would talk about induction the next appt which was 1 week away.... I ended up going into labor before my next appt..... 1 day away from 38 weeks.... Soo good luck & Congrats!!
I should have said... I did end up with gestational diabetes at 32 weeks... I think that's why she was ready to induce me early!!

Unless your baby is at risk I don't think your doctor will do it. My doctor waits a week after your due date to induce and no less (unless there is a health risk). You might be considered full term but your baby isn't ready and you have so little time left. Take it from me I'm due today and have had no signs of labor at all sofar. Give your baby time they know when they are ready. Your baby's health should be more important than your comfort.

Most Drs won't do it until you are about a week to 10 days before you are due, UNLESS there is a medically necessary reason they need to get the baby out before. Just wait it out, it's better for the baby, really.

I understand you being anxious for the arrival of your wonderful new bundle of joy, but trust me , babies come on their own.. If you are still pregnant at 41 weeks, talk to your doctor.. you still have 3 weeks for that baby to come.. patience.. as hard as it is, patience.. that baby still has 2 1/2 pounds to gain and lungs to mature some more.. you want the healthiest baby possible right? I've had 3 kids.. i know it's tough at the end.. but it's worth the wait.. trust me.. Congrats!

No. Without a medical emergency they can not induce you before 38 and a half weeks.

someone probably would. We had a neighbor that talked their doctor into it. Their kid was a runt - way behind the curve physically and socially.
Carry the baby till the due date. If there's a problem you'll blame yourself.
