really vote for who they TOLD people they voted for? Is this the reason the "Exit Polls" are so wrong?

I read this as asking if people lie to exit pollers. If that's your question, I think some people do just to get rid of the poller and that's why exit polls can be so wrong. Besides, like the others said, voting is the one place where we are really private. It's nobody's business who I voted for. Therefore, I'd be inclined not to answer rather than to lie.

Voting is by secret ballot. The curtain is a symbol of privacy and it is there to simply assure the voter that their vote is secure. Exit poles are used in an attempt to predict winners and often vary from the actual count. The curtain has nothing to do with answering polsters.

I can think of at least 3 reasons exit polls are wrong.
1. As you suggested, some people lie to those taking the poll.
2. Absentee voters are never polled.
3. Poll takers deliberately go to precincts that historically vote the way the want the poll to go.

lol. that's funny. and it would not surprise me one bit. Probably just pick their nose for a couple of minutes, push a couple buttons randomly, and then turn around and walk out.

well, considering what happened in florida with everyone being "confused" and what not. they prolly don't even know who they voted for.
