Life – it has a meaning and loving purpose - you just have to find your purpose and live it.

I believe every person is here for a definite purpose. Each person is special and valuable; that refers to me, you, your family, friends, in fact everybody! There is a loving plan for each of our lives here on earth and there is no such thing as coincidence. I don't believe that anything in life happens by chance and that every aspect of our lives points to something deeper.

You need to decide now to live for God rather than for yourself. You spend your life on Earth preparing yourself (as best you can) for death. I don't see death as a scary, negative experience, but birth into a bliss filled eternal life with God. I believe that this is something you have to consciously choose or not during your life on earth.

The meaning of life is for us to discover that we are true children of an infinitely loving and merciful God, to find out what our responsibilities are to our Creator, and to fulfill those responsibilities. Each of us is called to affirm, accept and develop the talents God has given us. -

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

I like that pessimistic answer saying the meaning of life is a Book...and that book is not even the Bible!

Every morning I wake up to see what events the day brings to me: I am the curious type, I guess. That´s my normal attitude.

But every day brings different meanings. So many, in fact, that maybe (just maybe) the meaning of life is to discover it´s meaning every day.

And I live a very full life. Some people complain about aging, or avoid it (try to avoid it). I feel better with age (now). It gives me a priviledged view of the world (like when I skydive) and people respect me more, are less affraid of my intentions and allows me to comunicate better.

I don´t know the meaning of life, but I certainly enjoy Life most of the Time!

That we would come to appreciate that we are alive, and to appreciate God who gave us life.To come to the realization that all that he has made upon this earth, including ourselves ,he made it all for man because he loves man.To come to the realization that the bible is not just another book , but it is the record of his intended will for man. As well as a history of his people and the story of How his will is acted out thru his son Jesus Christ. the meaning of life is to appreciate God the creator and sustainer of life ,because without him "life " would not exist. Come to realize these truths and seek the Lord while he may be found, seek out a Church of Christ and study the word examine what you are taught and check it with the word of God and recognize him for who he is -GOD- AND OBEY HIS SON -hear-romans 10:17-beleive-hebrews 11:6 -repent-luke 13 :3--confess-romans 10:9 and 10--be baptized -mark 16:16- this life we are living is but a boot camp for the eternal life that is our future, prepare yourself today so that you can be ready for the Lord when he comes , faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. This life means alot more when we have God with us and we have the comfort of knowing that whatever befalls us ,God is with us, the only way we can know that is thru his promises we find in his word and in the teachings of those apostles and prophets that instruct us to follow him as well.' seek ye the Lord while he may be found" may sound like a old fashioned saying but it is the teaching of the word of God and we must follow it if we are to be saved from Gods wrath on the ungodly which will come-without any doubt ,look around you and look at the state of the world today .All the killing ,all the insanity that is always going on , without the bible ,this life is a crazy dangerous place, but with the bible we find hope and promise and a secure future with God in this life and the one to come, choose God and visit The church of Christ and check the word with what is taught. Also to enjoy this life for it is the gift of God-ecclesiastes 3:12 and 13. take care, bob L.

Your question assumes that there is only one meaning of life.

How do you justify this assumption? How do you know that it's true?

If you look at what happens in real life, people usually find life's meaning in love, in friendship, and in community. And these meanings are reflected in people's religious beliefs too.

For other beings, perhaps there are other meanings.
