No!! We entrusted them with our well being and they should be a cut above. You can lose you pension in the private sector, why not in the government. A soldier loses his or her pension if they are discharged for bad conduct...

No, they should not, and the Senate apparently agrees, voting 87-0 for the Kerry amendment to the new ethics and lobbying bill. Elected officials who break the law should not be rewarded with a lifelong monetary award, paid for by those who they were supposed to serve. I also like how Kerry's amendment has a provision for the spouses and children of those Congresspersons convicted, who cooperate in any federal investigation, to receive the assistance they would have been counting on.

I TOTALLY agree witht he Kerry Bill, making felons ineligible for their $100,000 federal pensions if convicted of bribery or other malfeasance charges. You'll notice there is nothing in the bill saying its only for Republicans , it just works out the Republicans are the ones constantly convicted of bribery charges.

If they are no longer allowed to vote, I don't see why they should be eligible for benefits from an elected office.

Hell no. They "served" not us, but their own dirty pockets. Now I realize Congress is pretty much bought and paid for, but if it's so egregious then you don't deserve anything but jail time.
