Erm... During the day, I believe photosynthesis is at a higher rate compared to respiration.
If it is carried out at the same rate, then there would be no food formed because all would be burn out and we should have close to no oxygen in the air because in the day, they give out none and in the night they take even more.

It does that im pretty sure. Photosyntesis is repiration for the plant. It takes in CO2 and sunlight and creates 02 and a sugar for itslef
