Do employers look down upon you for that? Will they turn me away?

Is the 3.0 your overall GPA or your major GPA? If you are close (to graduation?) it's better to apply for internships for experience.

In my interviews with prospective employers, both for internships and full-time/part-time positions, have never asked me about my GPA, even in my field. They have asked me about the school I attended, but that's usually small talk. (Although I do mention I'm slightly changing the field I'm in, so they might give my GPA less consideration.)

That said, it may hurt you if it's not on there. However, do you have:

-Relevant classwork? Perhaps an individual class that you did well in? Or a research paper/capstone project?
-Do you previous experience in relevant groups or clubs at school? Volunteer work elsewhere? Other internships?

-Do you have previous office experience? Photocopying, sending out faxes, data entry, telephone experience, emailing, filing?

Quite a few internships and entry-level positions pretty much consist of office work. It can be rather frustrating. I did have an internship tell me explicitly that their interns did not do office work, even though they were aware some graduates were looking for that.

At the same time, if you do have those experiences, even from retail jobs or clubs/groups, it can give you an edge over people who don't.

Good luck!

Go and apply. You never know what they're looking for.

There's nothing wrong with applying for internships, but do realize that many schools have minimum GPA requirements for students to do an internship.

The reason is because it's a "privilege" not a right! In other words, if they just let anybody get an internship, then why would someone do good work.

Apply now, by the time your GPA improves it might be too late to get an internship.

You should have at least a 3.5 before applying at most of the large corporations.
