I'm just curious, because where I live in the United States soccer just isn't that big of a deal so I don't know much about it. I know Beckham was let go from his last team . . . so is he a fading has-been who's grasping at the only team that will take him, or is he still a huge talent that the LA team is lucky to get?

I know that soccer isn't as popular in the U.S. I guess what I was thinking about was when Joe Montana came to the K.C. Chiefs. His career was winding down anyway so it seemed kind of sad and pathetic, yet KC was all excited to get him . . . like he was going to be their saviour or something and fix everything that was wrong with the team. That's what I'm wondering about Beckham. Is it the same scenario?

There are alot of Americans that just don't get soccer and so no they would not care about Beckham. However, with Beckham coming to America, I believe people will start to see why soccer is so popular outside of the US. Beckham will draw a lot of attention which is a good thing for the USA.

He's here more to draw crowds then to actually play if you ask me. Like Valdaramma was a few years back and Pele was in the 70s. As you said, past his prime. But who knows, he may have a surprise or two left, and the MLS isn't exactly up to par with the typical European league.
