im getting xbox live and need to run about 40 feet of cable thru my hall and 2 rooms...i got a 16 foot cable with my 360 and want something that will connect 2 ethernet cables so i can just buy a 25 foot cable and connect them
is there such a thing i can buy?
please include prices and where i can buy one if possible.

I would just look for a longer cable if I were you... You could always buy a hub or switch- that is the normal way to extend ethernet networks further distances, but a common coupler like you would use to extend a phone cord will not work- you will probably get packet loss that will mess up your games...
Just get a 4 port linksys or netgear switch, or better yet just buy a really long cable. As long as there is no splitter on it you can extend ethernet cables up to about 300 feet.
