manufacturer makes or fabricates a product (say Coors Beer)
then a

Regional Distributor of what the manufacturer makes. Usually represents several manufacturers. A distributor delivers the products in a certain geographical area to a retail store
Example-- ABC Beverage Distributors

Then you have

Your Retail source either a Brick and Morter Store or a on line store. ABC Beverage Distributors Delivers the Beer to the Grocery Store or 7-11 for them to sell. This is the retail outlet.

Sometime products go directly to the Retailer from the Manufacturer.

Hope this helps

the distributor works between the manufacturer and the retailer. In many cases the manufacturer only wants to sell in very large quantities (truckloads for instance). The retailer wants to buy 5 or 10 at a time. So the distributor buys by the truckload, and sells in smaller quantities. DS @ christianministryofficeproducts.com
