Cosmologist and beautician have attended classes for a specific number of hour and earned a degree and passed a state test so that they can cut, style, color and do most things with hair. They can also be trained to do makeup, hair removal, hair extensions, various services relating to hair, and also can be trained to do nails. Esthetician have earned a degree so that they can do facials, low grade skin peels, facial massages, exfoliation, most things that relate to skin., make up artist are trained to do makeup. Sometimes a cosmologist/beautician training also include training for esthetician if they want to include this in their training. At least that is the way it is where I live. These things could vary from state to state.

Cosmetologist and beautician are the same thing. They learn hair, nails and makeup application.
Makeup artist and esthetician are also the same. It is training to learn to apply cosmetics and do facials. Basically anything you apply to the skin for non medical reasons.
A esthetician or cosmetologist license is required to do makeup. However a esthetician does not do hair or nails.
Basically if you don't want to do hair but want to do makeup and skin care you can go to school to be a esthetician/makeup artist.
If you want to do hair and makeup you become a cosmetologist/beautician.

First of all, I think you COSMOTOLOGIST, not cosmologist. Unless of course you do mean cosmologist, in which case, that means, "A branch of metaphysics that deals with the nature of the universe." Cosmotologist means the same thing as beautician. They mean, "person who gives beauty treatments." Now the only difference between those two words and makeup artist is that a makeup artist deals strictly with makeup. Cosmotologists and beauticians deal with treatments for the face, nails, hair, body, etc. Esthetician, on the other hand, doesn't really mean anything like the above terms. It merely means, "a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty, art, and taste, and with the creation and appreciation of beauty." This is only similar to other words in the sense that it deals with beauty. It does not, however, have anything to do with the application or process of beauty like the other terms. I hope that this helps you!
