it arrived in 1 gallon metal containers...

would it be be better to transfer it all to the huge water container that i have delivered?

stainless steel container should be OK, tin or aluminum is not.

Tranfering reagents or pure materials from stock bottles to other containers is never the smart play. There is a large chance of contamination and the substance will never be useful for anything other than qualitative tests.

I would strongly advise NOT to do this. As a rule the fewer containers that a substance was in during it's life, the better.

The containers it was shipped in should be fine. If you have to transfer it to anything, I'd probably go to glass jugs with teflon-seal lids becuase they are so non-reactive.

Every time you transfer stock between containers, you increase the risk of contamination. The less touched, the better.

Leave it in the metal containers and put them in the refrigerator!
