This is a tricky one. You know, I had an emergency C-section and had staples across my abdomen. My doctor told me NO earlier than 6 weeks---PERIOD!
Be, being as I am, could not wait until I stopped bleeding wich was 3 weeks to get it on. I think I even suprise my man. Not all women can do that. A friend of mine had hers vaginally and could not make love for almost 3 months because it was too painful. I guess what I am trying to say is, every woman is different. She will know when her body is well enough to have sex. Don't rush her, and take it easy for a while. And Get some rest.....having a baby is tough!

My doctor told me I could go ahead as soon as I stopped menstrating and felt physically comfortable with it. If you decide to go ahead, explain to your partner that you might have some discomfort and/or pain and if that happens, you will have to stop and go back to your doctor. I was able to after 4 weeks with my first but not for almost 8weeks with my second. It isn't the same for every woman and isn't the same with each child you have. Also, protection is a must, in spite of any old wives tales you may hear that nursing keeps you from getting pregnant again. You can still get pregnant, so be careful.

As long as you feel comfortable you should be okay. You still may have your extended period after the birth and it all depends on your own comfortable feeling in that.
Realize though that after the bleeding has stopped your fertile again and can get pregnant again. if you want to go (back) on birth control, discuss that with your doctor first, especially if you're breastfeeding, because it ain't good for the baby, the hormones will be in your milk.

Umm... it's supposed to be 6 weeks. Just because she's just had a baby, even if is seems things are OK you want to wait.
It's like a scab, you think it's ready to pick but when you actually do it, it bleeds! Don't want that to happen to your lady do you?

I would wait 6 weeks or until your dr releases you. It can be painful and interfere with your bodies healing process.
