It was Tecumseh. His brother was killed in a battle with American forces commanded by William Henry Harrison. When Harrison was elected President in 1840, Tecumseh put a death curse upon Harrison, and every "Great Chief" (president) elected every twenty years thereafter.
Coincidentally(?) Harrison contracted pneumonia giving his innaugural speech in a driving rain and died one month after assuming office. Thus began an interesting pattern indeed of presidents elected every twenty years dying in office, as follows:
Lincoln -- elected in 1860; assassinated
Garfield -- elected in 1880: assassinated
McKinley -- elected in 1900: assassinated
Harding -- elected in 1920; died of a heart attack while in office
Roosevelt -- elected in 1940; died of brain hemorrhage while in office
Kennedy -- elected in 1960; assassinated
The pattern was finally broken, after 140 years, by Reagan, who was elected in 1980 but survived, although there was an attempted assassination.
This would be interesing in itself, but what is even more surprising is that these presidents are also the only ones who died in office, save one. The one exception was Zachary Taylor, who died while in office and was elected in . . . 1850, also a year that ended in a zero, although it did not technically fit the conditions of the curse. Of course Taylor was also an old Indian fighter, so . . .

I have heard this about presidents elected when the year ends in a 0, so JFK in 1960, Reagan shot, elected 1980, FDR died, elected 1940 (he actually died after the 1944 election but that is a minor thing). Maybe he cursed the presidents on more than one occasion. As it is not possible to curse, it really doesn't matter

According to legend, Tecumseh supposively send a messenger to WH Harrison after the Battle of Tippecanoe, that stated: "Harrison will not win this year to be the Great Chief. But he may win next year. If he does... He will not finish his term. He will die in his office. No president has ever died in office, but Harrison will die I tell you. And when he dies you will remember my brother Tecumseh's death. You think that I have lost my powers. I who caused the sun to darken and Red Men to give up firewater. But I tell you Harrison will die. And after him every Great Chief chosen every 20 years thereafter will die. And when each one dies, let everyone remember the death of our people."
This seems to indicate that Tecumseh's brother, The Prophet, was the one who placed the curse because he was the one who darkened the sun and lost the Battle or Tippecanoe.

Really dude, why just the ones that end in '00?
Were they made about being slaughtered and forced onto reservations, but not really, REALLY mad, so therefore only cursed one in every one hundred years?

i come across it ironic that human beings could look to Pravda for reality. the recent Soviet guy and female had to examine between the lines. yet to respond to your (?) question, it quite is been the job of human beings for generations to offend the international's sensibilities. President Obama will little doubt proceed that custom.
