just bought new H4 headlights and sylvania H4 bulbs for my mr2. I am not very familiar with headlights in general. i just wanted to know if this setup is considered HID?

no, H means halogen

No, they are just bright halogen bulbs. High Energy Discharge (HID) lights have many more components than just bulbs, and cost about $1000 to replace in an average car. Some H4's have a blue tint that is designed to LOOK lke HID. They are brighter than stock, though.

No. The H designation of the H-4 relates to the halogen gas in the capsule surrounding the filament.
HID on the other hand, is (H)igh (I)ntensity (D)ischarge. This is similar to the old fashioned searchlights of the WWII. They require a very high voltage, and an environmental change inside the lamp for proper operation, much like mercury vapor lights in warehouses.

no h4 is a light that most car used but a hid id on your car will run u about $250 i have on in my shop in la ca 323 7521131 ask for diego or seen me a E-MAIL DIEGOSWHEELS@YAHOO.COM
