I know that the matches and storylines are scripted, but what else is fake, is it the submissions, the strikes, the weapons, what's fake?

The storyline is scripted, the winners and losers predetermined, yet it is still 200+ pound athletes flying through the air and, yes they do break bones, get severe cuts, and even die.

On May 23,1999 in Kansas City Missouri Owen Hart a wrestler for the WWF was being lowered from the rafters when he fell 78 feet landing on a corner ring post killing him in front of a live audience.

Yes it is dangerous, but most of it is scripted and they, for the most part would all be mortally hurt if they actually made contact with the hits and stunts that they perform.

There was a good documentary called "Beyond the mat" that entailed how much contact they actually are allowed and how strictly trained they are to fall the right way and make it look like they are inflicting pain.

Generally speaking, every move is done with the intention of protecting your opponent as much as possible while still looking good. So you could say all the moves are fake, although if some were applied fully and correctly they would hurt badly.

Professional Wrestlers are trained much like Motion Picture Stunt Men on how to fall and take a hit without being seriously hurt.
They are well skilled in "Making it look good" but no one, if done right, is ever genuinely injured.

They go to a professional school where they teach the wrestlers how to cut theselves, fall on purpose and dip the hits when the other person tries to hit them. I think they also use blood packets sometimes on punks who don't want to get cut.

things are scripted, but in the movement things can go wrong. people have been hurt, or even killed. recognize it for what it is. and celebrate it for what the performers do. because if you got into a ring and did that stuff. you just might be hurting something terrible.

What is fake is the illusion that the outcome isn't known in advance. Both 'wrestlers' have the same employer, who is in charge of keeping them all before he public eye.
