Who do you think was/is the best NFL player out of these three choices.

LaDainian Tomlinson (LT)
Jerry Rice
Emitt Smith

Stat wise, the winner would have to be Jerry Rice, then Emitt Smith, then LT, but in my opinion, I think Emitt Smith was way better than Rice could ever be. Also, LT in his NFL career will never defeat the record of yards of EMITT SMITH or JERRY RICE!

I think Jerry Rice, right now. He is the definition of clutch, go-to-guy, and deep threat all at the same time. I'm guessing if you ask 5 people (who know football) who the best receiver in the history of the NFL is and they don't give a biased answer, I guarantee at least 3 of those 5 will say Rice.

Emmitt Smith with all the rushing yards is a notch above LT but I guarantee that will change once LT breaks some more records and wins some Lombardi Trophies for San Diego.

Currently: 1. Jerry Rice
2. Emitt Smith
3. LT

10 years from now: 1. Jerry Rice
2. LT
3. Emmitt Smith

I'd go with rice @ this point but LT has hopefully many productive years to go and can give Jerry a run for the money.

I would have to say Emmitt Smith. Why? He played in a much tougher division throughout his career.

The NFC East was one of the best divisions in football during a lot of the years he played. From 1991 to 1996 the NFC East won 5 out of 6 Superbowls.

Rice is great but he played in what was one of the worst divisions in football at the time. The competition in the NFC West did not come close to that of the NFC East.
