The instructions are not clear at all. The only charging info. is power on player to charge. The problem is the player powers off every few seconds. Even though it says it needs no driver for 2000, XP, it does. Running XP I used the generic USB Media diver from Windows and it allowed me to charge through USB. As long as it is connected, even though it appears to power down it is charging. I am having Disk Errors and can't find any info. Hope this helps you.
