i always just put his diaper on and just let it lay the way it naturally does. people will say to point it down to keep the pee from coming out the top, but after 4 kids (2 b 2 g) i have never had a problem with the boys peeing out of the diapers if the diapers are the right size.

Downward

Down. Up causes leakage.

*lol* Some people may not have problems, but some babies pee more often and less quantity. Some babies however, no matter what size diaper and how tight/loose it is you need to point down or at the very least forward, not up.

WHEN I WAS CHANGING MY SONS DIAPER I USE TO PUT ANOTHER CLOTH DIAPER OVER IT, JUST IN CASE HE STARTED TO GO.. I NEVER PAID ATTENTION TO WHERE IT WAS POINTED. THAT WAS 25 YEARS AGO. NO ONE TOLD ME NOTHING, WHEN I HAD MY SON. I JUST DID THE BEST I COULD IN RAISING HIM.

Dosen't matter, he's going to pee on you either way!! Whatever seems more comfortable to him. I would point it down until the umbilical cord heals, just to prevent upleaking.

I was told downward so that when they pee... it won't come out of their diaper.

If the baby is a newborn, it may not be long enough to point up or down yet.
