I'm 13 weeks pregnant and I'm having these breathless attacks where I can't get enough air. It's after walking a distance (not long) or after standing up from a sitting or squatting position. My heart races, and it feels like I just can't breath in enough air. I'm showing a little now, I've got a small bump that looks like more than just a large lunch. I've read that the progeterone hormone can cause this? Has this happened to anyone and what did the doctor's tell you. My next appointment is this wednesday but I was just curious. Currently trying to get my breath back - whew!

Could be completely normal, but it sounds like a panic attack. I would talk to the doctor just in case. Those hormones are wacky though...never know.

anybody else is giving you different possibilities, yet no human being has suggested pressure. If it exceeded off once you first discovered out, theres no way it had some thing to do with the diaphram. per chance its no longer fairly breathlessness, only a concept-about breathlessness once you've the "startled" feeling, and also you panic for a minute and seize your breath. search for suggestion out of your health care professional, thats the superb suggestion all and sundry delivers.

Being short of breath is normal when pregnant, since everything is 'crammed' in there. If you are worried, just ask your Doctor, he/she will give you good advice. I have a really hard time taking deep breaths, and I was told this was normal. Do you feel lightheaded or dizzy? This is also normal, but can be a sign you are not getting enough oxygen.

I went through not being able to breathe with my first pregnancy...THE WHOLE TIME. She sat right up under my ribs during the last part, and it didn't go away. I haven't had that much problem with it this go-around. Thank God I haven't. Just try to focus on your breathing when you can...take big, deep breaths. If it continues, you will probably find it uncomfortable to sleep laying down. It will be ok, though...it's all worth it. Good Luck.

Yes breathlessness is normal in the first trimester and esp. in the last trimester. You usually get your breath in the second trimester because your body has adjusted to the hormones and the baby is not up in your diaphrame as it will be in the third trimester. your body produces more blood and the heart has to work harder to pump that extra blood. in fact your heart will enlarge slighly to compensate the 30% increase of blood volume.

Every once in a while it would be difficult to breath, usually when the baby is up high. Just wait till he kicks your lung - damn is that fun. Good Luck sweetie, try laying on your LEFT side when you get winded, it will help -- advise from an OB/GYN.

the same thing has happened to me my entire pregnancy. I am 30 weeks now and it is more prevalent because of the baby congesting my body more now(says my doc). Its nothing to worry about
