People say there is a time and a place for Breastfeeding. First, There is no time a newborn should be breastfed at least every two hours! and to feed in bathroom? no one i know eats on toilette! HWat's the matter with people. SOme people are so uncomfortable wiht themselves that they have to judge a wonderful thing! God put us on earth with no clothes so a BREAST is not going to hurt anyone. If a child asks simply say this is how a baby eats. Educate children don't hide things. I am comfortable enough with my body to not even noticec a breast when i see it. I think it is a wonderful and beautiful thing

i agree with you. I´m not sure where you are writing from, i´ve lived in the States and have seen how idiotic people at the mere idea of someone breastfeeding in public...i can assure you that there are other parts of the world where we don´t waste time even thinking about that, Latinamerica, for example.

In the case of the States, i think it has to do with how overly diplomatic people are trying to be all the time. How concerned they are to not offend anybody, to not invade anybody´s space, blah, blah, blah and sometimes it gets to extremes like this one. Ridiculous.

First of all it really is a shame that people don't see Breastfeeding as a natural occurrence. To me it should be as common day as breathing. However we only have our selves to blame for this.
We (meaning women) have been able to obtain the right to vote, we've gained equal rights in all aspects of society and we as a whole are highly productive. So why haven't we made a greater stand on breastfeeding in public? For years women have been taught that modesty is the best policy, and were told to just use formula, because it's easier. I would like to blame this whole mindset on our Grandparents, who in a more modest day and age, tried to eliminate anything sexual from peoples lives.
I do believe that in America we are starting to be a little more open to the idea. We certainly are not as open minded on this subject as some countries, yet we are far ahead of others. As studies come out and confirm that Breastfeeding is really the BEST way to go, awareness is spreading even to those who do not have children. Eventually it will be widely accepted.
When Bill Clinton was in office he actually passed a law called the Right to Breastfeed Act, which granted women the right to breastfeed on federal property without harassment! So yes progress is being made!
:o)

I agree with you it is one of the most natural things on the planet. However there is discretion too. You don't want a bunch of people staring at you when you are eating do you? And while it is natural, it is something that is to be shared between mother and child--not mother, child and food court at the mall. Breast feed in public, cover yourself, and enjoy the gift of being a mother--not being so concerned about who's watching. I am comfortable with my body too--unfortunately society has made women the focal point of sexual observance--so we have to live with that, and modify our behavior to prevent the gawking--but you are absolutely right--we shouldn't have to but the reality is that yes we have to be more cautious. Education is very important for our children--that is the only way we will change the behavior!! Great question/opinion!!!

Oh good gracious!! Get over it!! It's not a problem to put a simple blanket over yourself when you feed the baby. If it was ok to throw our breasts around we wouldn't wear clothes at all. I think breastfeeding is wonderful and natural (although I choose not to do it) so I agree that feeding in the bathroom is silly, but be considerate of other people and cover it up.

It's okay for women to wear shirts without bras, low cut shirts, shirts that barely cover their breasts, shirts that show their belly, shorst that show their butt hanging out, pants so low cut you can see their underwear but you want to say something to me for breastfeeding my cild in public cause "you don't want to see that"

There is nothing wrong with breastfeeding discreetly and I will NOT aplogize or back downone inch when it comes to doing what is BEST for MY BABY.

The LAW says I have the right to breastfeed my baby wherever I and my baby have the right to be and that includes at the table of an ignorant, over-sexualized server.

You are absolutely right. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world and is the most wonderful thing a mother can do for her baby. Some people forget that breasts are for babies. They are put on us women to nourish our children. It is society that has made breasts to be "dirty" or for the pleasure of men. It's sad really...

I agree with you. I had to breast feed on an airplane and in the airport. I'm sure the passengers wouldn't have liked a screaming baby, BUT, I was modest and covered up with a blanket. I wouldn't suggest letting them fly out in the open. If someone has a problem. Let your baby scream and sit right next to them.

I agree! I feel ur pain, my boss insisted i pumped in the bathroom instead of making the 5 minute drive to my house and pump ( i took a leave of absense!) People rather see some naked hooch on tv flaunt herself than deal with a woman nurturing her child the way god intended.

I agree. I was always concerned what people were thinking about me. Even though I always covered up. People should get more comfortable in their own skin and deal with an all natural action that new mothers do.

There are just a lot of sick pervs out there who sexualize everything even something as innocent as breast feeding a baby. They're the ones that need help, not you.

Just keep your kids away from sickos like that.
