My favorite categories are ones I know something about - homeschooling, education and sociology. I do not visit other categories much - gardening sometimes, and parenting, but the more 'alternative' areas I stay away from.
I am over 60 and have 5 kids. I dance clogging and am healthy as a horse!! I don't need confusion either. Let us know what you find out!

I think you can tell by the kinds of questions being asked what the ages are. During the day I think it really is older adult like people looking for genuine help, but as the day goes on (and weekends like you mentioned) the questions start to get "young". Don't give up on it. I think its a great tool, you can learn and give your input to help others. The more you are on, the more you will know when its a young person or an older person. Try to stay in categories that tend to be older also.

You generally can tell right off about how old someone is by the type of question/answer you read here. Immature people, generally do not care for well reasoned answers, but answers that go with their preconceptions. A small child is easily told from a younger person asking a ill posed question. Variance in age is also given by how the message is packaged. You are expected to spoon feed people who do not have the IQ of rutabaga and want " nice " instead of truth. Lot of ideology at the social science sites, which marks college students and graduates of social science programs. Me? I am sluffing and need to be doing something else.

I don't know. I don't really care. College age or older. I don't know if there's any real way to tell. Sometimes a person's answer will give their age away. Other times it doesn't. I think certain topics also attract certain ages. I'm in my late 20's. I'm a college educated professional. I know that there are people older and younger than I am here. I take the answers and questions with a grain of salt. It's a form of an entertainment for me while I am at work and absolutely bored. Sometimes people here have good advice other times they don't.

I think a lot of kids still get on during school hours at school in computer labs.
I'm 27 and my job is boring. I would assume that the folks on here are in their twenties because we all bore easily. I am at work (in a retail store now) while a customer is on the phone with customer service fixing his bill. I'll be answering questions when I'm not busy until 7pm or until I answer my 20-question limit for the day. Then I'll start picking best answers and what not. Wow, I'm lame.....

I honestly think that there are always teens on because of the time differences and getting on computers during class. but during the day it is probably an older crowd than it is during the evening

I'm 23. And I go from category to category, depending on how bored I am that day.

I am 43, but when you say "There is more to be had here than just wasting time" what do you mean?
Are you using Yahoo Answers as a means to find a man or something?
