I think that is a bad thing when someone becomes a celebrity for doing something bad (Rebecca Loos), or doing some stupid (Jade, who else) or not doing anything at all (Kerry Katona),

Only people with talent, intelligence, artistry and skill should attain celebrity status because those are things to celebrate.

Celebrating people who actually contribute nothing but their own self-debasement is somewhat mindless.

It is the people who make the "time-wasting" progams who are the real problem - The Media Pimps.

Celebrities can raise awareness easier than non-celebrities. Just look at Live 8. So yes.
