Most likely a young woman in her twenties will want to show off that great skin that she has. Use something that is transparent and brings your youth out. Your at the peak of your life. The time when most are hired to advertise their looks for cosmetics. A clear alive natural healthy look is what your make up should do for you. Go to some Mary Kay parties. Get with the gals and see what works. It don't have to be Mary Kay. But have some fun and you'll find your best look.

I'm only 19 (20 this year) so I maybe don't fall into the category you want but I think my reasons will be the same when I am.
I wear make up to cover the things I don't like and enhance the things i do. Foundation and concealer hide all the blemishes while eye makeup shows up my eyes.
My hair products have to keep my hair healthy and fight against all the stuff I throw at it (styling, smoking, pollution etc)
Moisturisers have to be non greasy but effective. Virgin Vie and Oil of Olay are really good for this.
Make up remover has to remove everything without being harsh.
Hope this helps you a bit xx

I am 24, and I actually sell Mary Kay. I want my cosmetics to do a couple of things . . . 1) to prevent my skin from ageing 2) to even out my skin tone and 3) to accent my features (eyes, lips, etc) With my personal care products, the only thing I really look for is convenience, price and skin hydration (I have VERY dry skin.)
I hope I helped, good luck w/ your research!

It's all about youth. I feel that women in their twenties (myself included) are trying to keep the youthful appearance that they had when they were teenagers. I also think that since (by Hollywood standards) anyone over 23 is wretched, old, and decreped, that they need to still look eighteen. I think that makeup is used to "prevent" any signs of aging and to cover up any blemishes or insecurities that a woman would have.
I wear minimal makeup. I wear Neutrogena Mineral Sheers powder because it's oil free and the minerals are "good" for my skin (says the marketing brainiacs). I wear black eyeliner and black mascara. I wear a pale (almost sheer) lipstick. I only wear makeup on days that I feel insecure about myself (like if I'm having a fat day) because I think making my face look prettier will make people not focus on what I think they're focusing on.
Otherwise, I feel like I don't need to wear makeup. I'm beautiful with or without it. I'll wear it when I go out because I like to look fancy for my husband (especially if he's dropping his cash on me).
Hope this helps.

Pip - I'm 21 years old-
I want to keep my skin young looking for as long as possible - I use the Mary Kay Time Wise set. And I love it.
I also look for time management I don't have a lot of time to take care of my skin so the fact that the Mary Kay Time Wise set takes about 45 seconds really helps, (3-in-1 cleanser, toner, exfoliate) .

I'm 23. I look for foundations and powders that will cover any blemishes or red spots I may have on my face (I use clinique). I want my make-up to make my face smooth and flawless. Then I have fun with my eyeshadows. Some days I go simple but I like to experiment with lots of colors. I like mixing greens/ yellow and pinks/blues. I love shimmery shadows. I look for eyeliners that wont smudge off easily and mascara that doesnt rub off below the eye. And blush or a bronzer is the finishing touch. It gives me color (since I am pale).

Something that's good value, and does what it says on the tin. There's nothing worse than buying something and it not working the way it claims to. Nice smelling products are always good, in make-up a wide variety of shades and easy to blend is what I look for.

I think its really sad that young girls are worried about their looks and skin and wasting lots of money instead of enjoying themselves .
I don't mean ignore your skin just cleanse properly
Moisturise at night any moisturiser you don't have to spend a lot its the fancy packaging you are paying for when it costs a lot
Exercise and eat healthily and you should be rewarded in later life
Oh i forgot don't

The trend now and day is to "look younger" to acheive this many companies that sell cosmectics use this all of the time. I think that people should accept their age gracefully and learn to make the age they are at beautiful
