A mate of mine who works for a well known tabloid newspaper interviewed Becks about his move to LA and reckons that off the record he told him that he was sick of being labelled a thicko by the English and Spanish press, and that by going to America he would be looked upon as being quite clever, but not as clever as, and I quote, "great historical minds such as Rupert Einstein, Ivor Newton or even that robot Stephen Hawking" How thick can you get, everyone knows it's Alfred Einstein!!

Nah, I reckon the only reason he's going is cos he's getting kicked out of Madrid. they're not renewing his contract so he has to go someplace else. He maybe getting tonnes of money and everything but he's David Beckham, he was always gonna get tonnes of money where ever he went. No, this is actually a big step down career wise, I mean no offence America but they don't take football (soccer) as seriously as we do and it's not shown world wide. The only reason he really wants to go is so he can become an even bigger celebrity, probably his wife talked him into it, it's not about playing the game for him anymore

the most overrated player in the world has left because no other team was interested in him at an old age of 31 which is grandad age in the world of football and real madrid only signed him because of the money they would make on merchandise
he may have made all that money but i think he would give half that a way for the success that he never achieved .

Beats me how you lot can call him stupid. You're (We're) the ones sitting tapping on our keypads. He's the one with the humongous deal, going to live in the land of sun and blue skies and all for doing what he loves doing. Playing football. Whatever your views on the guy are, he's the one with the money and we're the green eyed monsters wishing we'd been given some sort of skill which would provide us with half of what he's got! (Well, our version of it - for me that would be a massive, never ending bar of Cadbury's chocolate!).

anyman who can negotiate a contract at the end of his career for almost 4 times the wages of his peers, can not be that stupid!
