It doesn't have to be an either-or proposition. My recommendation is to choose your battles. Our time, energy, and resources are limited, so it is best to spend them only on what is really important (of course what is important is a highly individual matter). Though it is important to back away or let something go when appropriate, it is also important to fight for what matters. How you fight, how hard you fight, how long you fight (or not) has to do with your priorities and the anticipated consequences of your actions. Each situation needs its own evaluation as to knowing, "when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, and when to walk away," to allude to a country western song.

I am usually a fighter. But if I feel that by fighting, I may open myself up to more pain (emotionally), then I choose to walk away.

Depends on what it is actually. If it is worth fighting for or not. I am usually a fighter for things, but I am laid back. I don't like confrontations, but if you want one, I can give you one. lol.

I am a fighter. I don't give up. I have dealt with health issues, depression, boyfriend's suicide, and years of college. I made it through thank goodness.

I wish I could fight but it haven't slept in days and my eyes are closing despite my will so I will go lie down and give up to my dreams so I can fight again tomorrow because even when you give up the fight, it will still be there tomorrow and ever when you come back to fight again.

Depends on how worthy I think the cause is. If I can live without it I might not bother fighting, but for something that's in my heart I'd fight to the death.
