Essentially everything that happens in the cell is the result of a chemical reaction. Even in the simplest cell there are countless reactions occurring at any given moment. I've never heard in which compartment the most reactions occur, but I would guess the cytoplasm.
I say this for a few reasons:
-Several processes occur in the cytoplasm alone (eg- glycolysis, protein systhesis (which requires A LOT of reactions), etc.)
-Other compartments import subsrates from/export products to the cytoplasm. This importating/exportation as well as shuttling or various compounds all require chemical reactions to occur
-Processes occuring in other compartments are regulated by signals passed though the cytoplasm.

In the Mitochondria (Power House) situated in the Cytoplasm of the cell.
In the cytoplasm there are ,in addition, many other chemical reactions that carries on outside the mitochondria as well.
