Reset it. This happens sometimes. The way to reset it is to toggle the hold switch (slide it to hold and then back a couple of times) then place the ipod on a flat surface hold down the menu and the select buttons at the same time for a few seconds and it should reset. Be sure that you are only holding down those two buttons.

well, i can't tell you why it froze, but try this, (only for ipod nano) flip the hold switch on and off, then hold down the center button, and menu button until the apple icon appears, this will reset your ipod to the manufacturers settings. Hope this helps!

run the battery all the way down then charge it it should work fine
