Ethnic issues aside (which there shouldn't be anyway), since you are honoring one father with a name, why not also honor your father as well, by using his name as the middle? Or, if you prefer not to do that, how about the name of a man in your family that you really admired and loved. Or, if it suits you better, chose a name from religion, mythology, or history that you and your husband find to be exciting and possible a role model for your son to learn from. If a woman's name fills that ideal, then you can masculinize it easily, especially if you use the Spanish version. Are you Catholic? Use the name of your favorite saint. Just don't use the name of someone with a "bad name" in history or politics. You don't want your son to be ashamed for others to find out his middle name. Also, be careful with using names of countries. Not only can that make you and your child look ignorant to some people, but I know a guy whose family is from the Dominican Republic and they named him "Iran". That might have been an interesting name over 25 years ago, but now it's not a pleasant one for him to have.

How about your father's name or an important father figure in your life. Jose Christian is nice. Jose Michael is good too. Maybe try to jind a name where his initials would spell something.
Good Luck and much love to the baby.

I like Jose Miguel... but I think I would call him by his middle name since Jose is so popular among the hispanic population.
