It makes perfect sense to I hope my explanation will because it is actually quite simple. Take the thong and put it in a circle on a table in front of you so the two ends overlap by a few inches. Take one end of the thong and wrap it around the piece of thong it is resting on then tuck the lose end in so the knot you have made moves freely along the leather it is wrapped around. Repeat for the other end. And that's it. If that doesn't make sense email me and I'll try again with a diagram. It's much harder to explain that it is to do.

It's really easy. I did this on a dragon's claw necklace for my son.

Edit: I just wanted to add; you don't have to use two cords as directed on the link I posted. It will work with one. And you don't have to secure your pendant the way they have, you can use a jump ring and place it on the cord in the traditional manner. I didn't use the satin cord either, I used a black sort of waxy cord. Anyway... the link will show you how to do the adjustable knot.

i think i know what kind of knot you mean
i think all you do is just tie the strap around the other (not together) .
heres a pic i made. just follow the line with your strap.
this knot is kinda like a noose type knot
the round part on the stright line is a knot
