You can cut away parts of the envelope like a snow flake.
You could make the envelope from vellum and use decorative paper inside folded toward the envelope so it looks like stained glass.
You could stiffen fabric with an iron -on fusible web, cut it into an envelope and embroider it before you glue it into an envelope shape.
you could make the envelope out of leather and burnish it with a wood burning tool.
You can mail a plastic soda bottle with stuffed toys in them and mailing tubes aren't flat either so think about shapes AND decorations.

there is lots of ways. You could get a hole puncher the round type and punch a lot of holes different colors use about five or so in a circle with a yellow center circle punch, draw a stem and you have cute little flowers for the bottom or top of your letters.
You could put anything under your letter and take a pencil and go over it lightly on top to get image of it to appear.if you want more ideas email me at hollymarked@yahoo.com

Stamping! I love stamping. You can buy cool stamps from Stampin' Up! and Close to My Heart. You can use tons of "toys" with stamps like paper flowers and brads, sparkly "dust". You can buy tons of "toys" with these companies and stores like Hobby Lobby.
