I only see a glimpse of him once in a while, a few articles here and there. He seems like such a sad man.

I see John McCain just like i do all the rest of the Senators in Washington, D.C. He say's what he thinks the rest of the country wants to hear. He's another George W. Bush war monger. We sure as heck don't need another one of those for a single day longer than is necessary to get the current village idiot gone.

Lately, he's been spouting this crap about wanting even more troops to be sent to Iraq than what the current "Village idiot" living in the whitehouse has requested.

McCain wouldn't even be a senator had he not served in Vietnam and been a POW. Trouble with McCain's naval career was he was very irresponsible, drunk or high on duty most of the time, was so screwed up one morning that he launched a missile from his plane while still on the deck of the carrier.

It cost the lives of several naval personnel. But, because his daddy was such a high level naval officer no one in authority aboard the ship had gut's enough to discipline McCain for fear his daddy would intervene.

Luckily for the U.S. Navy, McCain would be shot down shortly after that incident and held as a pow until the end of the Vietnam War.

He is definately a sad man, I would be too, if i had to pack the guilt he's packing. He'd be a do nothing always on vacation president just like the idiot we currently have.

He has a tremendous amount of influence, he is respected by every person in politics, by the tone of some of your answers I dont think any of you know much about the man. I did not like him when he ran for President in 2000, but quite honestly I did not know much about the man. He has several children, two I think serve in the military, he is a Vietnam Vet, graduate of the Naval Academy, spent several years in the Hanoi Hilton, after refusing to be sent home because he was an Admirals son. He also takes stands one everything he believes in, popular or not, two examples is his unflinching support of the Iraq war, and his stand against President Bush's detainee bill, he is a conservative on most social issues and domestic issues, but he is not bound by ideology. He is everything I want in a candidate.

Sen. McCain is a great man and he deserves a look as a Presidential candidate. He's a Vietnam vet, lived at the Hanoi Hilton for many years as a POW. He's very dedicated and when he takes a stand, sometimes he's the only one doing it, but he's doing it. He's got a lot of integrity and definately a strong candidate for President in my opinion.

He's a rather powerful senator and has a legitimate shot at getting the Republican nomination.

Having said that, I'm not a big fan of the man. He always piques my interest and then does something to scare me off. Backing Bush's plan was no exception.

By the way, a lot of people don't realize that he was part of the Keating Five Scandal.

With the public I would say yes he has a good shot. With the rest of his party it will be hard for him to get the nod as their candidate. He is one of the people in office that crosses party lines on a regular basis so in his party he is not considered to be loyal.

To be a candidate he is strong enough. However, he won't last a week in the primaries.
I don't see why you think he's sad. He's wrong on a lot of things, but he's utterly a respectable, stand-up guy.

Sen. John McCain already tried to become a President before but was not even nominated.

I don't like any of the "front" runners myself. Is this the best that a country can do?

He has allowed the hard right to beat him into submission. I feel sorry the guy as he would have been much better than Bush as president.
