Eating healthy, eating often and exercising. I eat a snack about every 1-2 hours (fruit, low fat yogurt, low fat cheese, etc) and eat 4-5 small meals a day usually ended around 1800 calories a day with the choices I made (which is plenty unless you're underweight). I also walked at least every other night, if not every night. I ended up gaining only 6 (yes six) pounds and had a healthy 8 pound baby. Eating frequently keeps your metabolism moving, which keeps you from storing fat. It also helps you to keep away from bordem eating and splurgin on the nearest vending machine snacks when you get hungry (you never really get hungry). So pack some snacks for car rides and for work and it will help. So far this pregnancy I am doing the same thing and I am 22 weeks and have actually lost about 8 lbs since my first prenatal appointment. I have a thyroid condition and it can cause me to gain excessive weight during pregnancy since I stop taking my medications, so that's why I watched it so closely. It can be done, but it's NOT easy! Good Luck!!!

That is a big ask - i am 34 weeks and i have put about 18 so far. I have been exercising a lot and eating well and was thin before becomming pregnant - you would have to lose weight or gain the bare minimum to maintain that gain.
If you are overweight now then i think it could be done if you exercise and eat well in the earlier stages of pregnancy you could lose some. I assume that a weight issue is the reason for her asking but i could be wrong.
Good luck either way

Just eat a healthy balanced diet. Get a baby guide, like what to expect when you're expecting. It has a pregnancy diet listed within the book. You definitely shouldn't limit your eating though. A pregnant woman's blood sugar can drop suddenly and dangerously fast. Always try to keep healthy snacks around, just in case that hunger strikes...it can come on pretty quickly sometimes.
I hate that they say you should gain this or that...my cousin gained 60 lbs. while she was pregnant. But after the baby was born her actual fat weight gained was only 15 lbs. She has a 10 lb baby, but they both had so much water weight, they were both so swollen, it was unbelievable.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and I have already gained 35 pounds. So I would just suggest making sure that you eat healthy foods. stick to your dark green vegetables and make sure that you eat enough fruits. Stay away from fast food and that should help. I personally had no weight restrictions and wasn't worried about gaining the weight so I have just been eating whatever sounds good to me at the moment. :) Good Luck and congratulations:)

Drink plenty of water, try and stay away from sugary food, they are low in nutrition and will only make you gain weight. Exercise moderately, easier said than done when you're feeling lethargic but try to move and not sit on the sofa too much. Hope this helps and good luck.

Watch what you eat, and exercise. A lot of women make the mistake of thinking they are extra "fragile" just because they are now pregnant, and they just kind of stop doing everything. My doctor told me to "take the extra walk"....meaning park further away at the grocery store, and don't park in the maternity parking spots. Take the stairs, not the elevator. Continue to work and play just the same, until it becomes to uncomfortable in the last weeks. You can do it. It just takes dedication. Good Luck..you'll do fine.

I gained 20lbs. when I was pregnant. I had morning sickness the first four months of it so that probably helped me out. I just told myself that I wasn't going to say, "I'm eating for two so I need to eat double." But I ate normal foods I wasn't on any type of diet or anything.

First of all, you shouldn't be restricting yourself from eating during pregnancy. The only thing you can do is to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
